In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

IVF is a highly complex assisted reproduction technique consisting fertilize the oocytes of the woman with the man's sperm, previously selected, in the laboratory (outside the uterus).

For this technique are extracted oocytes the patient who has received a controlled ovarian stimulation to be inseminated with the sperm of the couple

After the eggs have been fertilized, are grown in special media for embryonic development is given. This embryo culture can last from 3 to 5 days.

During the time of embryo culture track the same is done to examine its development and determine the best quality for transfer and / or cryopreserved.

The 3 or 5 embryo day, one or two embryos (the best quality) are transferred to the uterus of the mother. For this procedure a very thin catheter that enters vaginally into the uterus, where the embryos are deposited finally under sonographic control is used. This process is painless and requires no anesthesia. The remaining good quality embryos are to be cryopreserved.
