The postcoital test is done to check whether sperm are able to survive in cervical fluid of women.
For this test, the couple should have sex one or two days before ovulation. 5 to 10 hours later, must be present in the office or laboratory for testing.
The procedure is as follows: After inserting the speculum into the vagina, the doctor proceeds to take a sample of mucus from the cervical canal. This fluid the number of sperm present per square centimeter and their movement in the mucus microscopically analyzed to assess their quality. It also studies the characteristics of this mucus to know if you are in the right state that is friendly to sperm.
